Soprano, Carleen Baron is a recent graduate of Temple University, where she received her M.M. in Vocal Performance. During her time at Temple, Carleen performed the roles of "Gretel" in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, "Zina" in Nico Muhly's Dark Sisters, and "Susanna" in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Recently Carleen has competed in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont competition, received first prize in the Medici International Music Competition for voice, and made it to the semi-final round in the James Toland Vocal Arts competition. This season Carleen will be reprising her “Susanna” with Opera Amici in Le Nozze di Figaro. Here, she will also be debuting her “Adina” in Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. In Spring 2024 Carleen will also be covering the role of Micaëla in Georges Bizet’s Carmen with Boheme Opera in New Jersey. Carleen received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2021, where she debuted her "Donna Anna" in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni during the inaugural season of the Pablo Center. There, she also sang "Lucy" in Kurt Weill’s Threepenny Opera and performed as "Cunegonde" from Leonard Bernstein's Candide in a concert performance with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra. With a passion for teaching in addition to the passion she brings to her performing, Carleen is also committed to providing students with healthy and motivated vocal technique and performance skills. Carleen studies under Dr. Kathryn Leemhuis and has most recently worked with tenor, Bryan Hymel at CoOPERAtive summer intensive in Princeton, New Jersey..
